February 11, 2009"Evisceration Plague", the new album from Tampa, Florida-based death metal veterans CANNIBAL CORPSE, has registered the following first-week chart positions:
Austria: #41
Canada: #38
Germany: #42
Holland: #105

"Evisceration Plague" sold 9,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. (Note: Nielsen SoundScan initially reported a first-week total of 7,500 for "Evisceration Plague", but that number has since been "adjusted," according to the band's record label, Metal Blade Records.) This is more than 50 percent higher than the opening tally of the band's previous CD, "Kill" (2006),which landed at No. 170 after shifting more than 6,000 copies. In 1996, CANIBAL CORPSE's "Vile" premiered at No. 151, with more than 6,100 copies sold.
Commented CANNIBAL CORPSE bassist Alex Webster: "We are blown away by the amazing response to our new album 'Evisceration Plague'. The chart positions that have been reported for this album are well beyond our expectations and the response from both critics and fans has been overwhelmingly positive. We want to say thank you to everyone at Metal Blade and Channel Zero for the great work they did on this release, and most importantly we want to thank our incredible fans; you are the reason for our great success. Thank you, you guys rule!!!!"
CANNIBAL CORPSE shot a video for the "Evisceration Plague" title track on January 21 in Northern New Jersey. The clip was helmed by veteran video director Dale "Rage" Resteghini, who has previously worked with MUDVAYNE, TRIVIUM and HATEBREED, among many others.
Commented bassist Alex Webster: "In CANNIBAL CORPSE, our goal has always been to try and make each new album we record our heaviest. That goal was a bit more challenging this time since we were extremely satisfied with our last album 'Kill', but we knew that by working with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios again, we would be able to start at that same level of heaviness and take it even further. Now that we can hear the finished product, I would say we've been able to achieve this goal, and I think our fans will agree. 'Evisceration Plague' has the best guitar sound we've ever recorded, and the entire band has never played with more precision and power."
"Evisceration Plague" is available as a limited-edition digipack including a bonus track and bonus DVD, jewelcase CD and on limited splatter vinyl.
"Kill" has sold 55,000 copies in the United States since its 2006 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
